Professional experience:

1988-Running a windsurf centre in Greece on the island of Evia

1988/89Working as a Ski-Guide in Austria/Switzerland

1989-Running a windsurf/catamaran centre in Zandvoort, Holland

1990-1991 Running a beach restaurant in Bergen, Holland

1992-Established a company for the design and realization of gardens in Holland

1993-Acquired our main supplier for the hard materials and transformed this into a new company for the realization of infrastructure, roads, and pavement in gardens, terraces.

1994Moved the company to new facilities and changed activities from realization to supplier (wholesale) of hard materials for gardens, infrastructures, road works, etc.

1996-Started a shop-in-shop project in the large garden centers in the northern part of Holland under the name Stoneshop that became the largest supplier of hard materials for gardens in the Northern part of Holland.

1997-Sold the company and left to the South of France to work as a yacht broker for a company called Boats-Diffusion in Ste Maxime selling small motor and sailing yachts up to 60ft.

1998-2000-Yacht broker  for De Valk Yachts France from office in Antibes selling average size motor and sailing yachts up to 100 ft, involved in setting up a charter department and managing the company.

2000-2003  setting up, owning and running a yacht brokerage and yacht management company located in St.Tropez for yachts from 70ft and over called Waterman Exclusive Yacht Services sarl. Selling yachts from 70ft –200ft , managing yachts up to  200 ft, and supporting with operational matters, accounting, VAT matters, registration of yachts and set up of offshore structures. Offering yacht service to yachts visiting St.Tropez. We provided services for more than 100 yachts.We have been involved in several refits and new builds supervising and owners representations in this period.

2001 As part of business development for WEYS,  initiate, investigate and negotiate a project to set-up a super-yacht refit and service center in the Toulon area. Among the activities: finding venture capital and local financing for the 50 million euro project, making financial forecasts, writing business plan, discussion with local authorities and the French government, finding commercial partners (yards and suppliers). The project (foreseen on a military site near Toulon) was canceled because of political changes and due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York which made the government decide that the military site was to be used for national defense against possible terrorist attacks. The project was not re-initiated after that.

2003-2005– Working as a freelance-consultant for Royal Denship AS to support  brokers and  clients, with design, technical specifications, budgeting , TAX issues and registration matters.

2005-2008  Executive Advisor  for Lantic Systems AS which is a successful company for the development and integration of yacht entertainment systems and cabin automation on board superyachts.This function was part-time and in addition to my work as yacht consultant and marine-surveyor.

2005-2011 Since 2005 I have been focusing on my work as yacht consultant, owners representative and project manager on new builds and refits of super and mega yachts and the management and development of the companies in The Waterman Marine Group which included development of online accounting system Yaccount and online yacht management system Watermanlive.

2011-2023 Waterman Marine Consultancy BV is re-located to The Netherlands, working as project manager on various new build projects, and focusing on marine surveys, risk assessments, consultancy work and management of a small selection of super yachts. Working area is world wide with a focus on the Mediterranean and The Netherlands.
